Dr Cheng recalls a lovely patient from a neighboring country, who had half of her upper jaw and teeth removed in her home country due to cancer. Even though the surgery yielded a favourable outcome, she could not function as there was no rehabilitation of the large surgical defect.
Upon understanding the nature of her problem, Dr Cheng and the team at Specialist Dental Group restored her surgical defect with dental implants, crowns, and prosthetic augmentation in a short time.
The first thing this patient did as soon as she had her new teeth was to have a meal of fried chicken! She shared that she savoured her meal because she had not been able to enjoy her favourite food for a long time, and this was also her fondest memory of her happy childhood. She finally felt complete again. Since then, Dr Cheng had the opportunity to get to know her son and family personally and they have become friends.

Dr Ansgar Cheng is a Prosthodontist with Specialist Dental Group®, Singapore. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor with the National University of Singapore, an Examiner (Prosthodontics) with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Hong Kong. Dr Cheng has a special interest in dental implants, crowns and the dental treatment of medically compromised patients.
