This research was carried out on more than 160,000 participants, aged between 40 and 79 with no history of atrial fibrillation or heart failure. Conducted by researchers from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, South Korea, findings revealed that tooth brushing three or more times a day was associated with a 10% lower risk of abnormally fast heart rhythm and a 12% lower risk of heart failure during a 10.5-year follow up.
One possible reason for this is that regular toothbrushing helps to reduce the amount of bacteria found in the pocket between teeth and gums, which in turn prevents the bacteria from entering the bloodstream and initiating blood clots to cause heart disease.
Therefore, it is important to brush your teeth at least two times a day, once in the morning and once before you go to bed at night. Now that you know the benefits of brushing your teeth, find out if you are brushing your teeth effectively here!
