As we enter the beginning of a new decade, we are thankful for 2019 – another productive and exciting year that has come to an end. We take some time to look back at the events that took place.
CNA Dental Seminar 2019
Undoubtedly the flagship event of Specialist Dental Group, this public dental seminar held in partnership with CNA (previously known as Channel NewsAsia) has always been a highlight for us whenever it takes place. We regard this as a precious opportunity to share with the public on important dental knowledge.
This was the sixth edition and audiences gain insights from a panel of dental specialists speaking on interesting topics such as whether to save or extract teeth, removable or fixed dentures, oral surgery and whether gum disease causes alzheimer’s disease.
Kiddie Visits
Over the year, we had the opportunity to host a few preschools as their children came to Specialist Dental Group for experiential learning. They learned more about being a dentist, how to keep their teeth healthy and experienced the magical dental chair.
Singapore Quality Class
In 2019, we were awarded with the Singapore Quality Class with Service Niche from Enterprise Singapore. We are privileged to be recognized in this area and will continue to improve ourselves so as to serve patients better and make our clinic an even more attractive place to work in.
SDG gives back!
Alzheimers’ Disease Association (ADA) was voted by our colleagues as the charity to support in 2019. Alzheimer ’s disease is a medical issue close to our hearts as its relation to gum disease is something we have been sharing about during our CNA public dental seminar. We raised a total of $4,360 for the charity and learned more about their efforts in making Singapore a dementia friendly organisation. We hope that the funds raised will help in one way or another to provide support for the dementia patients.
SDG Runs!
We participated in a few interesting runs in 2019 – one of it being Relay for Life 100km relay challenge. A few of our dentists/dental specialists teamed up with friends to cover 100km together, in support of Singapore Cancer Society.
Specialist Dental Group also formed another team to participate in the recent Standard Chartered Ekiden Run to cover 42.195km. A distance that may not be achieved individually by the team members was accomplished when we ran as a team!
As for Dr Ansgar Cheng, Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics, he completed his full marathon at SCSM. He came in third place in the Masters category (above 40 years old) and first in the 50-59 age group. In the earlier part of the year, he also set a new Singapore master record (M50-54) for a full marathon with a timing of 2’54’16 at the Gold Coast Marathon.
Another meaningful event that Dr Cheng ran for is Relay Majulah, a ground up initiative where 200 runners cover 2000km in 200 hours. The run raised funds for the President’s Challenge and its 67 charities.
Long Service Award
Rochelle, one of our dental assistants, have received her 10 years long service award. In appreciation for giving her time and life to Specialist Dental Group, she was awarded with a BIG cheque.
