2018 has been an interesting and fruitful year. We had a few significant milestones and it was a productive year as we continue to strive for excellence – be it as a specialty dental group or personally.
Moving to #08-04
One of the most significant event of the year was us moving to unit #08-04 to form a combined (jumbo) unit to serve our patients better. Designed by Dr Ansgar Cheng, Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics, the jumbo unit now has a larger waiting area and more dental treatment rooms for patients, as well as a pantry cum discussion room for our colleagues. Boosting the latest technologies for digital imaging, patients can also have their x-rays and CT scan taken for consultation immediately. It has been about 8 months since we moved into our new “home”, and we are loving it 😉
Specialist Dental Group (Orchard) is now serving patients at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, #08-03/04/10!
Newest dental implant solution – First dental clinic in Singapore and South East Asia
Specialist Dental Group has always strive to provide excellent dental care for our patients and it is our pride to be the first dental clinic in Singapore and Southeast Asia to place Trefoil for a patient. Trefoil is a new dental implant solution for the edentulous mandible (lower jaw with no teeth). Patients who were previously wearing dentures on their lower jaw may consider this fixed solution.
Dr Tan Kian Meng – newest addition to the team
Dr Tan Kian Meng is a Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics (Prosthodontist) and was trained in Singapore and Maryland, USA. During his time in USA, he was also a Fellow of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Oncologic Dentistry, at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Prior to joining Specialist Dental Group, he was a Consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. We believe his various clinical experience would be a good addition to the team and we would like to welcome him to the SDG family once again! SDG gives back!
In December 2018, we took time to volunteer at a soup kitchen, Willing Hearts, which serves 5,000 beneficiaries, including the elderly, disabled, low income families and poverty stricken families. It was an excellent display of teamwork as we worked together to chop turkey necks and baskets full of vegetables, unpack noodles and pastes, move heavy objects for delivery, cook and more.
In addition to that, we also raised $5,820 for Assisi Hospice – a charity that provides palliative care to patients with life-limiting illness.
We are indeed very thankful for these opportunities to give back to society 🙂
Annual company dinner
With the theme of “Bollywood vs Hollywood”, our colleagues dressed to the occasion and we had an enjoyable time together! We would like to specially thank our doctors and suppliers for their generosity in sponsoring attractive lucky draw prizes for our team members. The top five prizes included an iPhone Xs, 3D2N staycation at Shangri-la Hotel, travel vouchers and a set of Dyson hairdryer and vacuum cleaner!
SDG runs!
Our SDG Fly Ladies participated in six corporate runs this year, including 2XU, OSIM Sundown, SHAPE run, Run for Inclusion, Great Eastern Women’s Run and Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM). Joining them at some of these runs were Dr Ansgar Cheng and Dr Neo Tee Khin, both Prosthodontists.
For the most recent run at SCSM, Dr Ansgar Cheng came in overall 10th for Singaporean men.
Personal achievements
In 2018, two of our colleagues accomplished their 10 years of service with Specialist Dental Group! They are Vicky and Lavinya, who are both dental assistants to our dental specialists/dental surgeons. In appreciation for their dedicated service, they are awarded with $10,000 each.
We would also like to congratulate our front office colleague (#08-10), Hui Pin, on her ROM as well as to a group of colleagues who became mothers/fathers in 2018! With a total of seven babies blessed to us, this is indeed another very productive year for our colleagues 🙂
