Yesterday, we crossed into 2018, marking the start of another exciting year ahead. As we look forward to unfolding the plans we have in mind and take a step closer to our aim of being the first choice for specialty dental expertise and care in Singapore, let us first take a step back to reflect on the meaningful events that took place in 2017.
SPRING Singapore’s Service Class Certification
As the first and only private dental clinic that has been certified with the Service Class Certification by SPRING Singapore, you can imagine how honored and glad our team is. This recognition encourages us that as a team, we have delivered excellence in business and service standards. Nonetheless, we know that this is not the “final destination” and we will continue to enhance patients’ experience during their time with us.
Fifth Channel NewsAsia Public Dental Seminar
At Specialist Dental Group, we strongly believe that the public should be equipped with accurate information on dental health in order to make informed decisions. Hence, we have been consistently organising a biennial public dental seminar together with Channel NewsAsia for the last 10 years.
On 19 August 2017, about 500 participants came together to hear our dental specialists shed light on dental issues that are commonly neglected such as ulcers, lumps, cysts, bleeding gums and sensitive teeth, as well as how dental treatments like root canal and missing teeth replacement can improve one’s quality of life.
Body & Soul Season 5 – Bruxism
Apart from radio programmes and newspaper/magazine articles, we had the opportunity of increasing the public’s dental awareness via a television episode on Body & Soul Season 5, hosted by Daniel Martin and Dr Carolyn Lam.
Dr Ho Kok Sen, Dental Specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, shared about bruxism, its causes and treatment options, including how a customized mouthguard is made. While Dr Daylene Leong, Dental Specialist in Periodontics, shared about tongue health.
Gold Sponsor of Asia Pacific Dental Students’ Association’s (APDSA) Annual Congress
Apart from public education, we also see the importance of supporting the next generation of dentists and their aspirations, hence we are proud to be a sponsor of APDSA once again – supporting their efforts in promoting dental health in the Asia Pacific region and strengthening regional and international cooperation among dental students.
Giving Back to Society
Having the ability to give back to the community is a privilege. This year, we raised $5,896 for The Salvation Army Family Support Services (FSS) – a charity that reaches out to children who need care and protection, families in material need, ailing aged requiring quality nursing care and other needy segments in our society. May many lives be impacted through this donation!
SDG Fly Ladies Run!
The fact that Specialist Dental Group has a team of ladies that run together consistently is something that we are very proud of. It was 10 years ago when the team participated in their first corporate walk – none had the habit of running yet. But after much encouragement, taking part in corporate runs slowly became an activity that the team does together. Many of the SDG Fly Ladies went on to challenge themselves in the aspect of running and now a few of them have even completed a full marathon!
Other than team members, doctors who join in the runs include Dr Daylene Leong, Dr Neo Tee Khin and Dr Ansgar Cheng. 😉
This year, the team had completed runs together at 2XU Compression Run, The Performance Series, Great Eastern Women Run and Standard Chartered Marathon.
