Time that has passed is never going to return, therefore as individuals, we try our best to make full use of the year and hopefully, become an improved version of ourselves at the end of the year. As a group, Specialist Dental Group also seeks for ways to make our team stronger, so that we can serve our patients better.
Strengthening the Team
In June, we added a new doctor into our team – Dr Irene Sim, Dental Surgeon with Postgraduate Training in Endodontics. With her joining our team, patients can receive timely care for any root-canal related treatments and enjoy all-encompassing dental care by our group of dental specialists/dentists.

To cope with growing needs, we have also hired two new dental assistants, Mages and Zura, and one new front office colleague, Amirah. We trust that patients would be able to benefit most from the new addition of these capable colleagues.
Improving our Service
We continuously strive for service excellence so that our patients are not only happy, but delighted as well during their time with us. Hence, we decided to fly in renowned trainers from Australia, close the clinic for one and a half days to go through an intensive training.
Some of the things we learned include different patient communication techniques from various patient touchpoints (from the phone, email, face-to-face), as well as, building trust between patients and doctors. With that, patients can look forward to even better service from our team 😉
Pushing our Limits
We always encourage our team members to strive to do a little better, go a little further and run a little faster. Self-improvement, albeit bit by bit, helps us to reach our fullest potential and it also forms greater resilience.
Dr Ansgar Cheng, Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics, led by example by representing Singapore for the first time at this year’s Asia Masters Athletics Championships (AMAC) and World Masters Athletics Championships (WMAC). He achieved remarkable results during his runs – winning the gold medal for Singapore in the 5000m run for his age group at AMAC and he was the fastest Asian at the 5000m run for his age group at WMAC.

Watch our mini-celebratory party for him when he returned!
Our SDG FlyLadies took part in five runs this year – an amazing improvement from 2008 when we first started with one run a year. And this time, two of them (Liza and Rochelle) really went all the way to do their first ever full marathon at the Standard Chartered Marathon.
• 3 Apr – 2XU Run
• 28 May – OSIM Sundown
• 24 July – SHAPE Run
• 13 Nov – Great Eastern Run
• 4 Dec – Standard Chartered Marathon
Our runners even got featured in SHAPE magazine!
Increasing Patient Awareness
In 2016, we also introduced a series of videos where our dental specialists/dentists answered questions that were commonly asked by patients. We covered topics such as oral cancer, gum disease and tooth loss, missing teeth and many more. If you have missed out on the videos, catch them here.
With that, here is a glimpse of some of the things we did in 2016 and we invite you to continue to journey with us. ‘Like’ our Facebook page and subscribe to our blog for the latest updates about the team. 2016 has come to an end and we are looking forward to 2017 to be an even better and fruitful year! We wish everyone a blessed year ahead and that 2017 a year of smiles! (:
