Earlier this month (April 2016), a number of us at Specialist Dental Group participated in the 2XU Compression Run. This is our first run of the year as a team and good results were produced along the way – limits were pushed and goals were accomplished.
Achieving Personal Bests
Dr Ansgar Cheng, Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics, achieved his personal best in the 21.1km category. With an improvement of more than 4 minutes, he completed the run in 1h 24min 46s. Though he has achieved his personal best this time round, you can be sure that Dr Cheng would continue to work hard, train hard and run hard to achieve even better results for the next run.
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfect-ion, we can catch excellence.” Vince Lombardi
Liza, the fastest long-distance runner among the “Fly Ladies” (phrase used to represent our team of female runners), also achieved her personal best in the 21.1km category. She gave her all and accomplished the run in 2h 21m 49s. What made us even more impressed was her series of poses that were being captured by the photographers. 😉
Pushing Limits
This is the first time Rachel (one of our nurses) ran in a half marathon (21.1km). When she first started running, she participated in 5km runs. She then continued to stretch her limits, trained for longer runs and now, she has successfully completed a half marathon. With such determination, we trust she would continue to improve and do herself proud!
This time, we had three mothers who participated in the run as well. Rochelle and Abby, two of our nurses, completed 10km and 5km run respectively. Ita, one of our front office managers, also finished the 5km run.
The 2XU Compression Run might have come to an end, but this is only the start of our running journey in 2016. You can catch us, Fly Ladies, at the next run – OSIM Sundown Marathon, and this time, you would see even more of us!
