Dr Neo Tee Khin, Prosthodontist, would be speaking on how you can have better teeth for better years.
Q: What is a Prosthodontist?
The term “prostho” means replacement and “dontist” means dealing with teeth. Prosthodontists are the recognised experts in the areas of replacing anything that is missing teeth in your mouth. They are fully trained in the areas of dental restorations, missing teeth replacement including dental implants, crowns & bridges, cosmetic dentistry, and rehabilitation of head & neck cancer patients. Being the “architect” of a dental treatment plan, they regularly collaborate with other dental or health professionals to address patients’ dental concerns.
Q: Is it true that tooth loss is a natural phenomenon as one ages?
A: It is not true that you have to start losing your teeth when you are old! It is possible to have a full set of teeth even when you are 70 or 80 years old. Once you have a full set of adult teeth, they are meant to last you through your life. The main culprit for tooth loss at any age is due to poor oral hygiene or trauma. With proper care and prevention, you can retain a significant number of teeth for proper nutrition.
Q: What would I learn if I attend the talk?
A: As our teeth undergo wear and tear, they may require repair or replacement. You would learn more about the current technology available to restore and replace teeth so that you can retain a good set of teeth to better enjoy your years ahead.
