Specialist Dental Group is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Bronze Award 2014.
The Singapore HEALTH Award is presented by the Health Promotion Board to give national recognition to organisations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) programmes. It honours organisations that strive to help their employees lead healthy and vibrant lives.
WHP programmes are separated into three components – general health, targeted inventions and mental health. SDG took advantage of the holistic nature of the WHP programmes and embarked on many varied activities throughout the year. The team went through health risks assessments, physical activities like Yoga and Zumba classes, and even sweated it out together during the Standard Chartered Marathon. We also learnt about mental health wellness, which ranged from stress management talks to useful tips on reading food labels. Through the WHP programme, our staff also had the opportunity to see each other donning chef’s aprons instead of the usual surgical gowns during the healthy cooking demonstrations!
“Winning this award distinguishes SDG as a caring employer who values our employees’ health and well-being,” says Dr Neo Tee Khin, Co-Managing Director and Prosthodontist with SDG. “We are the only private dental healthcare organization to clinch this award and it will certainly help us gain a competitive edge in attracting and retaining the best people,” says Dr Neo.
In today’s competitive business environment, an organisation’s productivity, performance and success are increasingly dependent on the health and well-being of its employees. SDG believes that the workplace is a key setting for promoting the health of adults, and organizations can have a positive influence on employees’ health.
By creating healthy environments, ensuring that our policies are conducive to good health, and by providing health promotion programmes and services at work, we can create healthy and happy staff. “Our employees’ well-being has always been the management’s utmost concern,” says Dr Ansgar Cheng, Co-Managing Director and Prosthodontist with SDG. Dr Cheng adds “I make it a point to participate in these activities with my staff. Besides the obvious health benefits, the programmes make great team bonding activities too.”
