Specialist Dental Group staff spent their Saturday participating in a fun run called the GARFIELD RUN. Yes, you heard right. The lazy fat cat may not be a fan of exercise, but he believes in keeping fit and it was his first ever running event in Singapore!
Garfield is famously known for not wanting to break a sweat except perhaps to grab a pizza, but we want to show Garfield the benefit of having a healthy regime.
We joined two categories for the run; Garfield & Arlene Couple Run where couples have to run 5km together, and a non-competitive 3km Garfield Fun Run. It was a good opportunity for our staff to rope in their partners/husbands to run as a team. After all, couples who run together stay together.
True to the G
arfield spirit, some of our staff started with a complimentary ice-cream even before the run. There was also the well-loved Milo served in the famous truck and there was a long queue. It certainly brought back memories of our school days.
Garfield Run is the 2nd team event we had this year, and we always find it meaningful to participate in running events/outdoor bonding exercises. We live in a metropolitan city. What’s not to love about getting a good workout while enjoying the beautiful skyline in this city we call home?
We took the opportunity to take photos (and a lot of it) while waiting for the race to start. The gathering at The Promontory at Marina Bay has a gorgeous view of Marina Bay Sands, and our team had a good time chatting and enjoying nice breeze while waiting.

icial website, this event was a sold-out; there were adults, young kids, as well as babies on strollers who joined in the fun.
Participants were running, jogging, sprinting, walking briskly with their kids or pushing strollers along; and many stopped for a glimpse of National Day Parade rehearsal. It was a great feeling to be among individuals who share the same spirit for running.
Many thanks to the supportive husbands and kids who showed up and helped take photos to capture the moments. Our next event is the August 17 Shape Run and we have already signed up a number of our ladies to run for Specialist Dental Group in the 5km competitive category. See you at the next run!
