Specialist Dental Group® (SDG)’s third bi-annual dental seminar, organized together with Channel NewsAsia on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Conrad Centennial Hotel was a success! 500 attendees turned up at our event to spend a fruitful Saturday afternoon learning more about dental health with five of our leading dental specialists.
Based on the feedback obtained from seminar attendees, many found the information comprehensive and helpful in understanding the latest updates in dentistry, and how they can benefit from efficient dental solutions through the advancements in technology.
Invisalign: The Way To Straighten Teeth ‘Invisibly’!
Dr Eugene Chan, our Orthodontist (specialist in alignment of teeth), started off the seminar by acknowledging that everyone wants a beautiful smile.
He highlighted key considerations to think about when straightening crooked or protruding teeth, and when closing the gaps between teeth.
The audience learnt about the different types of braces available, such as metal braces, ceramic braces and self-ligating braces.
Dr Eugene Chan also shared in detail on Invisalign®, which are clear, removable aligners that move your teeth, without anyone knowing. Over 2,000,000 patients worldwide have opted for Invisalign® and it has been proven effective in both clinical research and private practice
The Dentist Reads the Pulse Of Your Health
Dr Helena Lee, our Periodontist (specialist in treatment of gums), believes that the mouth is a window to your health.
Her presentation educated the audience on how the state of your oral health can offer your dentists an insight to the general state of your overall health. Studies have shown a close correlation between your oral health and general well-being, such as diabetes, heart disease or premature birth.
High Tech Solution To An Age-Old Problem – Dental Implants for the Dissatisfied Denture Patient
After a short refreshment break, Dr Neo Tee Khin, Prosthodontist (specialist in replacement of teeth) took over the stage and injected humour into his presentation, showing funny videos on dentures and cracked the audience up.
Dr Neo’s presentation shared options on dental implant treatments for denture wearers. Those with one missing tooth, multiple missing teeth or even those without a full arch of their teeth can have their teeth replaced with dental implants which look, feel and function like the real teeth.
There are a few dental implant treatments such as conventional dental implant treatment, Instant ImplantsTM Procedure, NobelGuide Teeth-in-an-Hour Procedure and All-on-4 Dental Implant Procedure.
Four Pillars To Support Your New Teeth On The Same Day
Next was Dr Ho Kok Sen (specialist in oral & maxillofacial surgery), who presented to the audience on the latest, streamlined and cost-efficient dental implant procedure, the All-on-4TM Dental Implant procedure.
The All-on-4 Dental Implant procedure allows patients with fully edentulous jaws (missing the whole jaw of teeth) and very little bone to have their teeth replaced on the same day without having to go through the downtime of bone grafting.
When Dental Aesthetics Meets Function
A/Professor Ansgar Cheng (specialist in replacement of teeth) closed the seminar by sharing some life-changing dentistry stories that our team of dental specialists in SDG has performed.
