Running was a major past time during my school days. It has been a long time since I was standing behind a starting line. I almost totally forgot the feeling of adrenaline rushing inside my cardiovascular system.
The last time I took part in a run with a group of fit young men was over 20 years ago. That was the first time my parents showed up to watch my competition and that was also the only time I did not manage to get a podium finish in my favorite track event. Speak of Murphys’ law…
September 4, 2011 has been a very interesting day. This is the day I stood behind a starting line at a 5km road run. Unlike other runs I did before, this time I had a big group of colleagues from Specialist Dental Group to run together. We were 25 people strong! Not bad for a work group like ours.
What made it very special were the participants. In our team we had ladies, we had guys, we had younger ones, we had some small sized people and we had some of the other sizes. In addition, we were running among some ultra-fit young Singaporean army guys who are in crew-cut, packed with muscles and all the energy and values instilled by their military training. What a lovely company!
I am glad to say that we all survived the run and we managed to cross the finish line in style. Yes, I confess that we all went over to McDxxxxld after the run. However, I am sure all the calories will be used in preparation of our next run.
This time our BIG family was around. There was no podium finish but I couldn’t be happier !!
Good job gals, good job guys.
