Many of us are blessed to have sufficient food, and for some, abundance is a better description of all the meal choices we have in front of us. Correspondingly, our children are also fortunate to have pocket money for their school lunches.
Although Singapore is a cosmopolitan city which has achieved many milestones, e.g. best airline in the world, best airport, first Formula One night race, host of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games,etc., there are still groups of people in Singapore that are poor and needy.
Children from these families often do not have sufficient pocket money to buy lunch. Many times, these children either skip their lunch or end up eating food that is low in nutrition.
Specialist Dental Group is pleased to support A.S. Louken’s 10th anniversary project with a donation of SGD$2,000 to benefit the North East Community Development Council’s Lunch Box Fund.
The Lunch Box Fund will provide each primary school student with $180 per academic year, which is equivalent to $1 a day. Each secondary school student will receive $270 per academic year which is equivalent to $1.50 a day for their lunch monies.
Today the Lunch Box Fund has reached out to over 1800 needy students from 140 primary and secondary schools in the North East District.
