Invisalign is a new way to straighten teeth without braces by using a series of clear removable aligners. How Invisalign Works
Invisalign uses clear aligners to move teeth. The aligners are changed every two weeks, allowing gradual movement of teeth and minimizing discomfort. These aligners are customized for every patient. Patients are generally given three sets of aligners and they only see the dentist every 6 weeks to check on the progress of their case. Thus, there is reduced frequency of appointments needed compared with braces which requires appointments on a monthly basis.

The Invisalign Consultation
Your dentist will examine your dental condition and discuss with you the various options to straighten your teeth, including the advantages and disadvantages of each method. If you decide to proceed with Invisalign, an impression of your teeth will be taken as well as a photograph (front and profile) of your current dental condition.
Your dental impression will be sent to a CT scanning machine and incorporated into the ClinCheck 3D animation software. This is a web-based computer program which will show the movement of your teeth from start to finish. Your dentist will discuss the ClinCheck case with you and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. Once approved, all the clear customized aligners required for Invisalign treatment will be fabricated.

Im very much interested in Invisalign but would like to know the cost & how effective can it be and also can they last forever after my teeth are all being straighten using Invisalign?
Since i was a kid, my top front teeth are slightly protuding out which actually making me not only feeling uncomfortable but also totally no confident in smiling & talking to anyone. Im quite rejected to use normal braces due to unpleasant looks especially in working places.
2 mths back, ive done an extraction with one of the tooth at the very top right hand side of my front teeth (like tiger tooth) and since then have put on crown to cover the hole. For my upper teeth, other than the protuding problem…my teeth are actually straight. But my lower teeth are much crooked.
My question is, with the crown on my upper teeth….can Invisalign be done to help the protuding problem? Frankly, im very insatisfied with the crown as it make the protuding look even obvious & serious. I have talk to my doc before its done but he doesn’s seems to bother since after the full payment made. Im hoping other professional dental can help me with my problems especially with my protuding teeth. Would also like to know what type of cases Invisalign cannot be done? Hope im not one of them & also hope its not too costly for me.
Btw, how much does it cost for the invisible braces? Just curious….

After Invisalign treatment is completed (which can be anywhere between a few months to 2-3 years), we advise our patients to continue wearing a retainer. This is to ensure that the best results are maintained in the long term. Retainers should be worn on a full-time basis for the first few months after treatment is complete, and thereafter, they should be worn when sleeping.
All teeth straightening procedures, whether braces or Invisalign, would need regular use of retainers to maintain the results. Over time, failure to wear the retainers can result in movement of the teeth (a “relapse”) – the severity of the relapse would be different from one patient to another. In terms of your concern about wearing braces due to the unaesthetic appearance of the braces, the braces used today are very different from in the past:
- metal braces are smaller and thinner – in some cases, we found that patients actually asked for metal braces as they also liked to change the colour of the modules (rubber tie rings on braces) according to the festival, e.g. red and green for Christmas.
Other more aesthetic options for braces wearers include ceramic or tooth coloured braces and lingual braces (attached to the back of the teeth).

Those who have previously worn braces and then experienced a relapse (i.e. the teeth may have started moving back to the original position)are generally suitable for Invisalign.
In some cases, they may be suitable for Invisalign Express, which has a faster treatment time and lower costs due to fewer number of aligners required. However, this will only be able to be confirmed after consultation with our Invisalign-certified orthodontists.
Maintenance post-treatment is by using a retainer regularly. You will need to wear the retainer on a full time basis for the first six months after completion of treatment and thereafter, you would need to wear the retainer at night.
this applies to both braces treatment and invisalign treatment to maintain the best possible results in the long term.

In terms of the discomfort level for Invisalign compared with regular metal braces, Invisalign is actually more comfortable. This is because the aligners are smooth while the metal brackets and wires for braces can rub against the inner part of the mouth and cause ulcers.
Furthermore, since Invisalign aligners are changed every two weeks, the movement of the teeth is done gradually. For regular braces, the movement of the teeth is done once a month, so the amount of movement and tenderness is greater at each appointment.
Another benefit of Invisalign is that fewer appointments are required (6-8 weeks) compared with regular braces where monthly appointments are needed.

Hi,

I have only minor crooking of teeth, but despite being an adult now, still have a baby’s tooth (upper first premolar). One dentist mentioned that the tooth will have to go if I go for traditional braces. Is this the case also for Invisalign?

We cannot assess whether you will need to have an extraction until our orthodontist has had a chance to examine your dental condition. For invisalign payment, there is a 50% deposit collected in the first two weeks after the patient agrees to proceed with the treatment. After that, installments are paid for the remainder of the appointments.

It is a Must for a braces/Invisalign patient to put on their retainer after finishing the treatment. Retainers should be used on a long term basis. This is to ensure the teeth are kept aligned. Your orthodontist will provide detailed instructions on the length of time to wear the retainers.
There are two options available- fixed retainers and removable retainers. Generally, retainers are to be worn at all times except meal times during the first few months after treatment is completed. After that time, they should be worn at bedtime on an ongoing basis.

in general, it really depends on the extent of the relapse (where the corrected teeth may have shifted back to their original position prior to braces treatment). If the relapse is more severe, you may have to undergo full braces treatment again. if the relapse is slight, the treatment may be for a shorter period of time.
You would need to see our orthodontists for a consultation and they would be in a better position to let you know what your options are after a thorough examination of your dental condition.

I am a Korean waman in forties with upper straight but a bit protruding teeth and lower crowded teeth.

This is because even though a patient may think that only one row needs to be straightened while the other row of teeth should be left alone, this may affect the final outcome/positioning of the teeth after the treatment.
Thus, the optimal treatment would be to have aligners on both rows of teeth, although the number of aligners on each row may be different due to the different condition of the teeth, and amount of movement required.

We do not treat just one row. There may be differences in the number of aligners used per jaw, depending on the amount of correction needed, e.g. for mild cases, perhaps fewer aligners may be used, compared to a case where more movement of the teeth is needed.

Invisalign lite is for milder cases, including those who previously wore braces but whose teeth have since relapse (moved from the corrected position). Invisalign full would apply to most cases where straightening of teeth, or closing gaps between teeth is required.
Extractions are not included in our Invisalign packages and are a separate fee.

You would need to be assessed by our orthodontist to determine if you are a candidate for the Invisalign Lite package. If you are a good candidate, the number of pairs of aligners would depend on the extent of the movement of the teeth involved.
Usually Invisalign Lite is appropriate for those with mild cases, or those who used to wear braces when they were younger and whose teeth have since relapse to their former position.

Invisalign Lite is more for mild cases as well as relapse cases (for those who used to wear braces). Dental appointments are every 6-8 weeks. We do have a number of international patients and frequent travellers among our Invisalign patients.
The key is to ensure that you are able to plan your trips around the timing of your dental appointments, and to also wear the aligners as indicated by the orthodontist.

As per my dentist, my tooth need to be remove as i have another tooth on top and been block by current one. Once i remove my current tooth, the other one will came down automatically. Hello, I am really interested in the price of invisalign. And I am quite worried that I may not be the suitable candidate as I have no idea why I have this phobia over seeing dentist so I am quite reluctant to go for braces. I am 23 this year.
When facing mirror, my top left and bottom left tiger tooth are quite high and quite low respectively and the tooth right beside them is slightly grown inwards. Could u provide more details on the candidates criteria for using invisalign?
